Water & Moon Boddhisatva - Kwan Yin - Avalokiteshvara - 4015B
Embodiment of compassion and mercy this image was modeled after the 11th-12th C Guanyin of the Southern Seas - A bodhisattva, unlike a Buddha, refrains from entering Nirvana until all sentient beings have attained enlightenment.
The Water-Moon Avalokiteshvara is a bodhisattva of compassion. His Chinese name, Shuiyue Guanyin, refers to his pose, seated in contemplation of the moon's reflection on the water (shuiyue), and his nature, attuned to the sounds of the world (guanyin).
