Solar Boat Chatelaine - 5129B
Derived from images carved on the Gotland picture stones. The solar wheel represents the sacred circle of life, its basic four directions, and the elements as well as the wheels on the Sun's chariot. This image was sacred to the Norse, Balts and Slavs as the Solar Wheel representing the strength and protection of the Sun in the heavens driving out the cold and darkness. Small horse heads can be seen below the wheel signifying the horses that pulled the Sun's chariot. The sun-boat is sometimes associated with Freya - that takes her share of warriors fallen in battle to feast in her hall. The rings let the charm serve as a small chatelaine for hanging bells, beads and charms. Wear by itself or strung on a Viking Treasure Necklace. (Beads and charms not included.) Bronze - Size: 28 mm W x 41 mm H - 1.1 in W x 1.6 in H
