Designed from Viking Age chatelaines from which Norse ladies hung their small tools and favorite charms this striking piece can be worn either to be hung directly from turtle brooches or on a separate hanger. This is a beautifully detailed replica of traditional patterns worn in Scandinavia, the Baltic Regions and Kievan/Rus settlements dating from circa 1000 AD. It is a sprout of wheat surrounded by flowing water representing the Great Goddess Mokosh also symbolic of the World Tree reaching upwards into the vault of Heaven. This encompassing arch invokes Celestial protection – the sky vault sheltering the tree, associated with Rod and Svarog. This motif can also be seen in single heart shaped pendants and quatrefoils worn as amulets for fertility, abundance and protection.this is a needle case filled with half-washed sheep's wool in the traditional fashion to hold the needles horizontally.
TOOLS, CHAINS AND CHARMS ARE NOT INCLUDED. Bronze (60 mm H x 35 mm / W - 1.375 in H x 2.25 in W )
