Rune 26 - Ac - Oak Tree - Powerful Potential

Folklore tell us that “Mighty oaks from little acorns grow”. The acorn must have good soil to put down deep roots. This also takes time and patience to see something great develop from such a humble beginning. This is the power inherent in the acorn which, although small and inconsequential of itself, holds the potential mighty oak - given time and the right growing conditions. Oak was one of the trees referred to as “iron wood” because of its strength and endurance. And also because it was frequently was struck by lightning and exploded in fire. This led to its association with Thor and Perun and other gods associated with lightning and storms, and the power to bring this power to earth. The tree's deep roots and towering height made it a symbol of stability, protection, and royal authority.
